Examine

The activities associated with the examination of the product or asset to determine the actions required to repair, remanufacture, refurbish, service or recycle the product or asset. This typically includes identifying, accessing and applying standard examination procedures, running tests and analyzing the results of testing. The outcome of the Examine process is a list of corrective actions required to return the product or asset to the desired state or the decision to dispose of the product or asset.

Use Cases

  • Physical inspection of damage
  • Running the product or asset
  • Measuring key characteristics of the product (e.g. properties of a chemical or material)
  • Measuring/accessing key use data from the product or asset
  • Standardized procedures for root cause identification
  • In-car computer data analysis

Notes

For more complex M4 processes this may be an iterative process. Some use cases are configured to have multiple levels of examination --First-level, second-level, etc-- to reduce the number of resources required that can perform expert level examinations.

Examination can be performed on-site for use cases where the asset cannot be moved or is permanently installed. Make Cycle Time Direct Labor Costs
