A Request for Information is a document issued by a Buyer to solicit a potential solution to a problem identified by a prospective Seller. This typically includes a technical response and/or solution and precedes a Request for Proposal. Pricing, Terms & Conditions information is typically not involved at this stage in the buying process.

A Request for Information is typically different from a Request for Proposal which solicits solution and pricing proposals.

Compare to: Request for Proposal, Request for Quote.
