Order Promising is the practice of the Seller determining an estimate of the delivery dates and communicating these dates to the Buyer. Typically the output of the Order Promising process results in an Order Confirmation message to the Buyer.

ATP is sometimes mistaken for Order Promising, however the use cases offer alternatives.
