Available-To-Promise is a term describing the Order Promising practice to reserve available inventory or supply and calculate a schedule shipment date based on the reserved supply and order characteristics. ATP is typically receiving input from Plan Deliver. ATP enables a response to the customer and/or initiating fulfillment of the order prior to the next run of the Plan Deliver process.

Use Cases

ATP is typically applied where a customer requires an instantaneous response to a newly submitted order or where Pick, Pack and Ship may need to occur before the next occurrence of Plan Deliver.

  • Order Promising; Instantaneous response to new orders
  • Rescheduling; Making changes to the order date, quantity and/or ship-to
  • Order Cancellation; Optionally inventory put-back ('unreserving')
  • High velocity, same day Make-to-Stock products
  • In a Distribution Center: Same day shipping option

Available-To-Promise may also be applied to quotations, optionally reserving inventory/supply until the quote expires. Orders On-time Ratio
