Reverse Logistics is the Supply Chain Configuration Strategy that enables products to be returned to the seller or the seller's agent with the intent to perform maintenance, repair, overhaul or issue a replacement.

A common practice for businesses is to implement dedicated supply chains to manage returns. Key business drivers for Reverse Logistics supply chains include: Value recovery (Asset Efficiency), issue resolution, regulatory compliance and sustainability.

  • Manufacturer product recall
  • Lease return processing

  • In services industry: Scheduled maintenance

Notes

Alternative names include: Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO), Remanufacturing.
